A milestone in safety: 6000 days without Non-Day Off accidents at SEKISUI S-LEC's Resin Plant

SEKISUI S-LEC's Resin Plant located in Chemelot, Geleen, Netherlands, has recently reached an extraordinary milestone, achieving >6000 days without Non-Day Off accidents. That is no less than 16.5 years, since the start in Geleen. This remarkable success stands out as an exemplary achievement within the chemical park, where the plant is located. In October, Ruud Verheijen, Plant Manager of the SEKISUI S-LEC site, presented this success to other companies in the region, outlining SEKISUI’s safety approach and the mindset behind this accomplishment.

SEKISUI’s safety strategy

The safety strategy at SEKISUI's resin plant is not a recent development but a longstanding commitment. Ruud Verheijen explained that the strategy has been in place for a long time and has been continuously visualised and strengthened to maintain an impeccable track record.

SEKISUI applies KAIZEN, emphasizing continuous improvement in all aspects of life, including the workplace. At the resin plant, KAIZEN manifests through a systematic approach to identifying and addressing potential safety issues. This involves a proactive stance, where every incident, whether internal or external, is seen as an opportunity to learn and improve.

In addition, the analysis of incidents focuses on systemic issues rather than attributing blame to individuals, ensuring a constructive and fair approach to safety management.
