SEKISUI again awarded as one of the most sustainable companies in the world!

The Canadian organisation “Corporate Knights” annually ranks the 100 most sustainable companies in the world in its “Global 100” index. Since the first edition of the ranking in 2005, it is the fourth consecutive and sixth time overall that SEKISUI CHEMICAL has been included.

The index ranks major companies around the world from all sectors (8,080 companies in 2021), by looking at the corporate sustainability performance from various perspectives. The methodology is based on up to 24 key performance indicators (KPIs), covering resource management, employee management, financial management, clean revenue & clean investment and supplier performance.

In 2021, SEKISUI CHEMICAL CO., LTD. has been ranked as one of the “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World” for the fourth time in a row and for the sixth time overall. With place 51, SEKISUI was ranked sixth from 16 Asian companies listed. The “Global 100” rating was announced at the “Davos Week” held virtually from January 25 to 29.

SEKISUI’s ESG management

The great achievement in the “Global 100” was awarded in recognition of SEKISUI’s efforts and accomplishments towards a sustainable business based on ESG (= Environment, Social, and Governance) factors. ESG is grounded as the company’s long-term commitment in SEKISUI’s “Vision 2030” as well as its Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050, having set a long-term target of zero greenhouse gas emission from business activities by 2050 and aiming to switch to 100% renewable energy for purchased electricity by 2030 based on backcasting.

Special recognition to SEKISUI’s ESG management was given in the “Global 100” for its achievements in the evaluation criteria clean revenue, clean investment, safety, and employee retention.
